Peach Lemonade

A refreshing and homemade peach lemonade that captures the essence of summer in a cup.

Ingredients
  

For the Peach Puree
  • 6-8 large ripe large peaches (about 3 pounds) Fresh peaches are preferred.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar For peach puree. Generic sugar is fine.
  • 1/2 cup water Tap water works just fine.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Freshly squeezed for better flavor.
For the Lemonade Base
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice Juiced from about 8-10 medium lemons.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar For simple syrup. Generic is fine.
  • 1 cup water Filtered is preferred.
For Serving
  • 4-6 cups cold water Adjust according to taste for dilution.
  • to taste fresh peach slices, lemon wheels, mint sprigs For garnish. Essential for presentation.
  • as needed ice cubes For serving chilled.

Method
 

Prepare Peaches & Peach Syrup
  1. Wash, pit, and dice the peaches. Peeling is optional.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine diced peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Make & Cool Peach Puree
  1. Mash the cooked peaches after they are mushy, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl.
  2. Cool the peach puree to room temperature.
Prepare Simple Syrup
  1. In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water over medium heat until dissolved.
Prepare Lemonade Base
  1. Juice 8-10 lemons to get about 1 1/2 cups of juice, then strain out seeds and pulp.
  2. In a large pitcher, mix the cooled simple syrup with the lemon juice.
Assemble Lemonade
  1. Pour in the cooled peach puree and start with 4 cups of cold water for dilution. Taste and adjust as needed.
Chill & Serve
  1. Let the mixture chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Serve over ice, garnishing with peach slices, lemon wheels, and mint sprigs.

Notes

Always start with less sugar and adjust for taste. Invest in a good juicer for ease.
