  • 1 package frozen cheese ravioli Store brand recommended
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Homemade preferred, but any decent jar works. Avoid watery sauces.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Best at room temperature for mixing.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese For topping.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a fancy touch.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning Feel free to add more to enhance flavor.
  • to taste salt and pepper Use sea salt for a fancier touch.
  • as needed fresh basil Optional, for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a large baking dish to coat the bottom.
  3. Layer half of the frozen ravioli over the sauce.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the ricotta sit at room temperature for better mixing. Spread this mixture over the ravioli.
  5. Add another layer of marinara sauce over the ricotta.
  6. Layer the remaining ravioli on top.
  7. Top with the remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving and garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

Using a non-stick baking dish makes cleanup easier. Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or spinach for variation. Don't worry about presentation; focus on the taste!
