  • 400 g sugar
  • 100 g cornstarch Dissolve in a little water
  • 250 ml water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp rosewater or orange blossom water Use either for flavor
  • to taste Powdered sugar for coating Dust on the finished Loukoumia

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Combine sugar, water, and lemon juice in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil until syrup forms.
  3. Dissolve cornstarch in a little water.
  4. Slowly stir the cornstarch mixture into the syrup.
  5. Cook on low heat, stirring constantly until thick.
  6. Add rosewater or orange blossom water.
  7. Pour mixture into a greased pan.
  8. Let cool and set for several hours.
  9. Cut into cubes and dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

Store Loukoumia in an airtight container for freshness. They can be left at room temperature but are best stored in the fridge for a week.
