Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey if you’re feeling leaner
  • 1 can kidney beans any brand will do
  • 1 can black beans any brand will do
  • 1 can tomato sauce Hunt’s is recommended for thickness
  • 1 onion, chopped use two if you love onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or more if you like garlic
  • 1 tbsp chili powder McCormick is recommended
  • 1 tsp cumin adds depth of flavor
  • to taste salt and pepper sea salt is preferred
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for sautéing

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat, ensuring you don’t burn it.
  2. Add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, watching closely.
  4. Stir in kidney beans, black beans, and tomato sauce.
  5. Season with chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
  6. Simmer for 20 minutes until it thickens and flavors meld.
  7. Serve hot, optionally topped with shredded cheese and sour cream.

Notes

For a thicker chili, use a thick-bottomed pot. For spiciness, add jalapeños or cayenne. Leftovers are great for hot dogs or nachos.
