Ingredients

Pasta Base
  • 6 ounces Egg Noodles These are your base! Don't use regular pasta; egg noodles give that perfect taste.
Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Ground Beef You can go lean, but whatever’s on sale works.
  • ¼ cup Butter Salted or unsalted is fine.
  • ¼ cup Flour All-purpose flour is just fine.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Homemade or store-bought, both work.
  • 1 ¼ cup Milk Whole milk gives a richer flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder Adds a garlic kick!
  • ½ teaspoon Onion Powder For savory depth.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Adjust according to your spice tolerance.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Sea salt for fancy, regular salt is fine too.
  • ¼ cup Sour Cream Adds creamy richness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions, usually around 8-10 minutes. Set aside.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef, breaking it up while cooking until no longer pink (about 6-8 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  2. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the flour to the melted butter and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes until golden.
  4. Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Slowly whisk in the milk, cooking for another 5-7 minutes until creamy.
  6. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt until well mixed.
  7. Lower the heat and add the cooked egg noodles and browned ground beef, stirring until combined.
  8. Finally, stir in the sour cream and mix until creamy.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite veggies or garlic toast.

Notes

Expect some chaos while cooking, and consider using cast iron skillets for better sauce consistency.
