  • 1 pound ground beef Lean preferred to reduce grease.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Can make you cry!
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Avoid burning.
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced Canned can be used if needed.
  • 2 cups beef broth Bouillon cubes work as a substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Adds umami flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon flour For thickening.
  • 1 cup sour cream Full-fat recommended.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for seasoning.
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice Egg noodles are classic.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  2. Once the beef is no longer pink, remove it from the skillet and drain the excess grease.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add in the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, stirring and cooking for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well to combine.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  7. Let it cook for about 5-10 minutes until it thickens to your liking.
  8. Stir in the sour cream until well combined; do not allow it to boil.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve over egg noodles or rice, optionally garnished with parsley.

Notes

Use a good skillet for easier cleanup. Leftovers can be reheated with a splash of broth for creaminess. Feel free to experiment with the ingredient variations.
