Preparation
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast; let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a smooth batter forms.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Cooking
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Drizzle with honey and sprinkle sugar on top before serving.
Notes
Keep an eye on them while they’re frying; they can turn golden brown quickly. If you want a twist, try adding a pinch of cinnamon to the sugar before sprinkling it on top.
