Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Slightly melted works too.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar We're not counting calories here.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Dark brown adds a nice depth.
  • 2 large eggs Make sure they’re fresh.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Real vanilla preferred.
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour No need for gluten-free alternatives.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Dutch-processed preferred for richness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda This gives it lift.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Use sea salt for a gourmet touch.
Add-Ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Feel free to mix in some white chocolate chips.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture until well combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the centers are still soft.
  2. Allow cookies to cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
