- Lightly toast your bread in a toaster or broil each side for 1–2 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. If using a toaster oven, set it to bake on the bottom rack.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg until fully combined. Whisking more will make the egg fluffier.
- Stir in the cheese, herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Spread the mixture to the edges of the toasted bread. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne on top.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until puffed and golden, ensuring the cheese melts beautifully and the edges become crispy.
Notes
For leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. Reheat in the oven or toaster oven, avoid the microwave to prevent sogginess. Customize by swapping cheese or adding chopped veggies for extra flavor.
