  • 2 cups sour cream use low-fat if preferred
  • 1 cup mayonnaise best quality recommended
  • 4-6 pieces fresh jalapeños, seeds removed and finely chopped adjust spice level as needed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp cheddar recommended
  • 1/2 cup diced green onions adds a zing
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder avoid fresh garlic for this recipe
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice fresh or bottled
  • to taste salt and pepper sea salt or regular salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine sour cream and mayonnaise until smooth.
  2. Stir in the chopped jalapeños, shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and lime juice.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Serving
  1. Serve chilled with tortilla chips or veggies.

Notes

Use a food processor for a smoother texture. Chill longer for better flavor melding. Stir before serving to recombine any separated ingredients.
