  • 1 cup orzo pasta Use any shape of pasta if preferred.
  • 2 pieces chicken sausages, sliced Feel free to try different flavors of chicken sausage.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets You can substitute with spinach or peas.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic adds great flavor.
  • 4 cups chicken broth Use low-sodium if preferred.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to preference.
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional) Adds a nice creaminess.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the orzo and chicken broth, and bring to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the broccoli.
  6. Cook until the orzo is tender and the broccoli is bright green, about 10 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Always taste as you go! If you want a creamier texture, stir in some heavy cream or cream cheese at the end. Experiment with different sausage flavors!
