Preparation
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced bell pepper and onion. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Cooking
- Add the ground chicken and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
Assembly
- Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
- Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns and add optional toppings.
- Cover with the top halves of the buns and serve hot.
Notes
For an extra kick, add chopped jalapeño. A cast-iron skillet provides better cooking results. Pairs well with sweet potato fries or a side salad.
