Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour King Arthur Flour is recommended.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Regular sugar; coconut sugar is optional.
  • 2 tsp baking powder Ensure it's not expired.
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon Cinnamon is essential.
  • 1/4 tsp salt Sea salt is preferable.
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs Organic is preferred.
  • 1/2 cup milk Almond milk works too.
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted Butter enhances flavor.
Apples and Glaze
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced Granny Smith is recommended.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar For glazing.
  • 1-2 tbsp milk For glazing.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and granulated sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and melted butter together.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Fold in the diced apples gently using a spatula.
Baking
  1. Drop heaping spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 16-18 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Glazing
  1. While fritters cool slightly, mix powdered sugar with milk to create a glaze.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over warm fritters before serving.

Notes

Serve with coffee or vanilla ice cream. Optional: mix in nutmeg or add raisins/nuts for variation.
