For the Coating
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Use gluten-free flour if preferred.
  • 2 tsp garlic powder Adjust based on preference.
  • 1 tbsp salt Sea salt recommended.
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp paprika Adds color.
For the Sauce
  • 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream Provides rich flavor.
  • 1.5 cups water Add more for a saucier dish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well.
  2. Clean the chicken pieces, then dredge them in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
Baking
  1. Lightly grease your baking dish with butter or oil, and sprinkle some flour over the bottom.
  2. Arrange the chicken pieces in the dish, skin side up, spacing them apart.
  3. In another bowl, stir together the heavy whipping cream and water until well combined.
  4. Pour the cream mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is covered.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), then bake for about 1 1/2 hours until the chicken is golden brown and the gravy is thick.
Serving
  1. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve with creamy gravy and your favorite sides.

Notes

This dish is versatile; add more garlic or herbs like thyme or rosemary for extra flavor. It pairs wonderfully with cornbread.
